Felicity

I get asked quite often which is my favourite Whimsy Farm Twine colour. Is it like having children, not being able to choose a favourite?

Nope. It's Felicity.

There's a little story behind the names of the Whimsy Farm Twine colours. I used to own a herd of dairy cows - Friesians, the black and white ones. I had about 350. And they all had names.

Some names were a bit "out there". I mean, I had to come up with 350 different names. I had BellaReena, BellaLuna (they were sisters, their mother was Bella - the pale pink twine), I had a Teddy, I even had a Froggy. I loved them all very much. I had to sell them due to the drought that ravaged the Victorian dairy industry.

Above all others, though, was Felicity. I loved that girl. She was my friend, my confidante. She loved a cuddle, she loved a scratch, she loved lucerne.

So, when it came to naming the twine colour combinations, it was easy. I'd name them after my favourite girls. (This wasn't all that easy, actually - I had lots of favourites!) But my Felicity, I saved her for my favourite colour, the bright pink.

I even call the cow in my logo Felicity. And my favourite twine, I use it all the time. I try to make myself use them all, show them off equally. But I always come back to Felicity.

So there's the story behind the names.
I miss Felicity.

Baker's Twine Bracelet

I love tutorials.

No, I love tutorials I understand. And I understood this little tutorial, and now I'm sporting a pretty groovy twine bracelet.

See?

Don't understand why I'm so happy with it? I've never known how to braid! At all! Plait? Sure, I can plait. But this is my first attempt at any sort of braiding.

So, to again answer that question, "What can I do with twine?" ... You can make a braided twine bracelet!

Good luck (but if I can do it...)

Visit this great tutorial to make your own twine bracelet.

To purchase - or peruse - Whimsy Farm Twine, head to the Facebook page here or the Whimsy Farm Twine website here.

And remember to show me your bracelet photos! I love photos!

Twine Party Pictures

Good evening! I hope you're all remembering to enter the giveaway?
(Hint: Head to the blog post called 'GIVEAWAY!')

Here are some more pictures from the twine party, as promised. The idea of the twine party was to show different ways to use baker's twine. I experimented a lot; some things worked, some... flopped!

I started with some cupcake toppers. I always start with cupcake toppers.

I had wanted to do string art, but couldn't make the wood and nails look pretty. When I was making my regular printed cupcake toppers I started fooling around with the twine - and suddenly I had string art-twine cupcake toppers!

I have a little craft book that shows how to bind a book with string, so I tried a twine version:

I used twine for the centre of the flower, too.

I got a bit more adventurous and thought I'd wrap some bottles with twine. This took a looong time. I used double-sided stickytape instead of glue, as the glue was too slippery to hold the twine in place easily.

It is effective, but I repeat, it took a looong time.

I found a great little tutorial - http://scrapbookandcardstodaymag.typepad.com/scrapbook_cards_today_blo/2012/02/bakers-twine-tutorial-with-summer-fullerton.html - showing how to make some cute little twine heart gift tags. Here is my version:

I think they're pretty! What a sweet idea by Summer Fullerton.

Two more pictures. My favourites.

Here is a plate of cookies. Kate's Cookies - http://www.facebook.com/KatesCookies - made me some cookies based on the little cow - Felicity - in my logo. Take a look at these:

Aren't they the most udderly adorable cookies you've ever seen?! Gosh, don't get me started with cow puns. We'll be here for-heifer.

Couldn't help myself.

And finally, here is the Twine Cake. What is a Twine Cake, you ask?

That. That is a Twine Cake.

Isn't it magnificent? One Sweet Girl - http://www.facebook.com/pages/One-Sweet-Girl/211664615553042 - made the cake, the twine flowers, everything. She's a genius! And the cake, by the way, was delicious.

Thank you for letting me share my party.
Til next time, Angie. xx

(There are more photos, of course, and if you want to see those you can head to http://www.facebook.com/WhimsyFarmParties )

Let's Party - Twine Style!

Well, it's over. I can put my feet up. Of course, I shouldn't be putting my feet up - I should be cleaning. And cooking dinner. But for now, I'm just going to put my feet up.

I had so much fun today with the Twine Party! I was surrounded by lovely people, lots of food and twine in all the colours of the rainbow. We even had twine-related games, and the party ended in a dance-off. Which is how all parties should end, by the way.

I had some lovely friends contribute their spin on twine to the party.
Blake & Mason (http://www.facebook.com/blake.n.mason) made a gorgeous little fabric owl picture, using the Bella twine.

 Graceful Things
(http://www.facebook.com/pages/Graceful-Things/169219836534337 ) designed a gorgeous little headband using the Bella twine as a feature.

And Michelle's Caddy Shakk
(http://www.facebook.com/MichellesCaddyShakk) created a beautiful little handmade card using the Tabitha twine in the bunting.

Thank you, Ladies!
I'll post more photos tomorrow, but here's one more from the
Whimsy Farm Twine Launch Party.

'Til next time,
Angie. xx

Twine Party!

I love a party. I love the cake, I love the conversation, I love the cake...

I do love cake.

But I also love TWINE! And tomorrow I'm having a Twine Party. The main reason behind organising a twine party was because of the amount of times I get asked, "What do you do with twine?" So I thought I would have a little party to show different ways twine can be used. I've even got some of my clever business friends to put their own spin on twine. There'll be twine everywhere! And cake. Don't forget the cake.

But, instead of people saying, "Wow, what a great idea - Now I'll know how to use twine!" they're now asking a new question:

"What is a Twine Party?"

Welcome to Whimsy Farm Twine!

{Here we go - my first blog post! Just a little bit nervous, I don't mind saying.}

Welcome to Whimsy Farm Twine. Australian twine. My little business. A little business I started because I love twine, but I don't like to spend all my hard-earned on the stuff. Let's face it - twine is just fancy string! Or so my husband keeps telling me...

So Whimsy Farm Twine is about affordable twine. My twine is $5 for a 100 metre spool. And, I know that not everyone actually needs 100 metres. So I sell cut lengths of 5 metres for $1. 1 measly dollar! At that price, you can get 5 metres of 13 different colours - 65 metres in total - for $13.

Yay! Twine for everyone!

Ta-ta,
Angie. xx
